Green Island Eco Adventure Half-Day tour

Green Island is a coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef.  From Cairns, it is only a 13 kilometres journey off the coast in North Queensland, Australia.   Day and Resort guests can access the island daily by boat.

Not only will you create fabulous memories on beautiful Green Island, but you will also get there with ease.  With several departures available daily, getting to Green Island and enjoying paradise is possible.

Surrounded by white sandy beaches, Green Island also has a lush tropical rainforest.  There is no better way to get there and experience this than with the Green Island Eco Adventure.

Choose to snorkel or scuba dive, stay dry, and see the spectacular reefs on a glass-bottom boat tour.  Alternatively, you can laze on the white sandy beach.

In either case, Green Island offers an array of activities to suit all abilities and is ideal for non-swimmers.

About Green Island Eco Adventure

Green Island is a coral cay formed over thousands of years by building sand and coral rubble.  The island is a unique rainforest environment covered in tropical forests and, as a result, supports an array of birds and insects.

Green Sea Turtle

The surrounding coral Reef is home to many kinds of corals, clams, fish and stingrays, to name a few.  Like its name, Green Island is a popular nesting area for Green Sea Turtles!  Not only will you spot these magical creatures, but also you can find the Hawksbill Turtle in the area, so you will certainly be spoiled!

Guru-Gula Gungandji is the indigenous people of this island and surrounding reefs.  As a matter of fact, to them, Green Island is known as Wunyami.

Where is Green Island?

Not only is Green Island 27km northeast of Cairns, but also only an approximate 45-minute boat ride away.  It is a National Park and home to over 120 native plant species and birdlife.  Coral Gardens and marine life are abundant and waiting for you to explore.

Plan your day to Green Island Eco Adventure

Firstly, take a stroll through the tropical rainforest.  Secondly, laze on white sandy beaches.  Thirdly, immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters and go for a swim, dive or snorkel.  Or why not try them all?  After all, there is a wide range of optional activities to experience on Green Island.

Is scuba diving on your bucket list?  Scuba dive tours are available, as well as snorkel excursions.  Above all, don’t forget to try the Seawalker helmet diving.  By all means, this is a truly magical experience where you can walk along the Ocean floor!

On the other hand, we recommend taking part in the itself-Guided Eco Island Walk to gain insight into the flora and its Indigenous uses.

Green Island Eco Adventure departs from Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal and offers the best island experience.  In addition to choosing from several departure times on offer, you will also be able to choose which activities to join.  Surely such flexibility should suit any travel plans!
